1. The Scenery
Vancouver is nothing without its picture-perfect back drop of the gorgeous mountain sides of Grouse Mountain, Mt. Baker, Mt. Seymour, or Cypress Mountain. Whether you enjoy outside activities such as skiing, hiking, snowboarding, or you just want to create memories while taking in the beautiful scenery, it is overwhelming how impressive the view is from the top. The scenery in Vancouver only adds to the appeal of living in such a wonderful place.
2. The Best Park in the World
TripAdvisor's TCA (Traveler's Choice Awards) voted that Stanley Park was the best park in the world. Whether you are heading through the wonderful restaurants and bars on Davie, or you pass by the magnificent shops on Robson, you will find yourself in the favored destination of many Vancourites and visitors.
This park is a great representation of the Vancouver personality that so many have come to love. It is the perfect fusion of nature and urban life, offering an amazing amount of activities for those who travel there. You will find the Lost Lagoon, Aquarium, a miniature railway, and many beaches to fill your day with excitement and memories.
3. The Beach Scene
Though the beaches in Vancouver are not as renown as other exotic locations, you will find that they are still amazing in both visual appeal and social interaction. Most importantly, their accessibility is amazing. In the summer, you will find a large population on the beaches taking part in many activities such as barbecuing, volleyball, swimming, and more. The beaches reveal incredible dimensions of Vancouver.
4. Granville
Ignoring the fact that Granville Island isn't actually an island, and that it is massive, you will find a treasure trove.
You will experience some of the best seafood, and fresh food markets, magnificent crafts, and unique products in Granville. Another great place to visit here is the Granville Island Brewery. You will always find something to keep you busy.
5. Transportation
Regardless of how long, or short, you have stayed and/or lived in Vancouver, the ferry ride to and from Granville is a fun experience that always keeps you just above water. There are also other fun ways of getting around that you can experience while enjoying some funkiness. The transportation options definitely put using the bus to shame.
6. BC Place
Supporters of lower league football in England will find the old-fashioned, small stadium of BC Place to their liking. Not everyone is fond of newer stadiums. The atmosphere here is always fantastic.
That being said, BC Place is an excellent place to experience. An intelligently designed retractable canvas that divides the two tiers can easily collapse the capacity to 21,000. This is wonderful because you will not see 20,000 fans spread out among 60,000 seats.
To top it off, with ice hockey being the dominant sport here, you will find an infectious spirit from the resident Southesiders and Rain City Brigade. The atmosphere they generate is wonderful and you can always find yourself ready to cheer for your favorite team.
7. The Canucks
Though most of the hockey fans outside of BC don't cheer for them, The Vancouver Canucks are an exciting team to watch play and follow.
They offer so much more on paper than they do on the ice, but that being said they have partaken in many different Stanley Cup playoffs and always have a dedication, drive, and positive expectation for their game play and seasons. They work hard for some of the most devoted fans in the hockey realm.
8. 'East Van'
Though it isn't everyone's favorite scene, East Van (short for East Vancouver) is a unique place to visit. In fact, lumping all the hotspots under East Van doesn't bring justice to the wonderful sub-neighborhoods that are full of originality and unequaled quirkiness. This is definitely the place for you if you are into funky bars, hot little restaurants, pubs that have a beer selection that would take multiple visits to sample, and indie shops.
It's the contrast of the culture that makes all of Vancouver one of the greatest places on the planet.
